SkillbuildersTM: Innovations to Support Continuous improvement
are designed to insure that implemented practices for school-wide positive behavior interventions and supports are both effective and sustainable. Its unique conceptual design allows for interactive monitoring of fidelity and outcomes, adaptation and re-adaptation of the practice and ongoing investment and re-investment of the implementation process. PBIS SkillbuildersTM is a Train the Trainer model which builds internal capacity by cultivating local expertise to delve deeper into evidence-based practices and return with a multi-media presentation to educate their staff, parents and/or community.Through the thematically pre-designed power points, school site representatives explore systems, data and practices, refine facilitation skills and develop technological independence to deliver their own professional training. The hallmark of PBIS SkillbuildersTM is the technology opportunity to create contextually designed vignettes for teaching evidence-based practices. Training sessions allow time for scripting, producing, and showcasing teaching scenarios. PBIS SkillbuildersTM supports continuous measurement and data-based problem solving by providing opportunities for assessing fidelity of implementation. Benchmarks, self-assessment surveys and social validity indicators assist with action planning and solution development plans.

SWIS/ISIS Facilitator Training:
A facilitator functions as intermediary between the University of Oregon and the local school district, and is responsible for training school personnel and administrators in the adoption and use of SWIS. This training is intended to prepare 'facilitators' to a) use SWIS, and b) help schools in their district prepare for and use SWIS. A data-based decision-making model is presented. Information generated by SWIS is embedded in decision-making. The three day training focuses on using SWIS, teaching others to use SWIS, working with schools to prepare for SWIS compatibility, and working with teams/coaches to apply a data-based decision-making model.
Interested in supporting your region, district or schools with data for decision making? The California Technical Assistance Center on CalTAC~PBIS,Inc. will sponsor two SWIS Facilitator Trainings during the 2013-14 school year, one in December and one in May.
